1 million BAM from the UK Government in support of local communities in Una-Sana Canton hosting migrants and refugees
Sarajevo, 22 November 2018 – UK Government has allocated more than 1 million BAM (£500,000) to support communities and authorities in Una-Sana Canton hosting migrants and refugees.
The project ‘Una-Sana Canton Social Cohesion Initiative’ will be implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) from November until the end of March.
The project will support local authorities’ efforts to ensure improved delivery of public goods and services, both to migrants and the local population in Una-Sana Canton. The project will also support the reparation and revitalization of public spaces, such as the Bihac City Park and the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Borici.
The project further aims to enhance security by supporting the installation of public lighting on streets in local communities along the Croatian border frequented by transiting migrants and refugees.
The project will reinforce public garbage collection services through the donation of garbage collection trucks to the City of Bihac and Cazin Municipality and provision and instalment of small garbage cans, together with additional larger garbage collection containers throughout the city centre of Bihac.
The Agreement was signed by H.E. Mr. Matthew Field, British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr. Peter Van der Auweraert, IOM Chief of Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Vlada Velike Britanije pruža 1 milion KM podrške lokalnim zajednicama Unsko-sanskog kantona koje ugošćavaju migrante i izbjeglice
Sarajevo, 22. novembar 2018. godine – Vlada Velike Britanije je izdvojila više od 1 milion KM (£ 500,000) za podršku zajednicama i vlastima u Unsko-sanskom kantonu koji ugošćavaju migrante i izbjeglice.
Međunarodna organizacija za migracije (IOM) će od novembra do kraja marta implementirati projekat “Inicijativa socijalne kohezije Unsko-sanskog kantona”.
Projekat će podržati napore lokalnih vlasti da osiguraju kvalitetnije usluge korištenja javnih dobara i usluga, kako migrantima tako i lokalnom stanovništvu u Unsko-sanskom kantonu. Projekat će također podržati obnovu i revitalizaciju javnih prostora, kao što su gradski park u Bihaću i Partizansko spomen-obilježje u Borićima.
Nadalje, projekat ima za cilj poboljšanje sigurnosti podržavajući instalaciju javnog osvjetljenja na ulicama u lokalnim zajednicama duž hrvatske granice koje često koriste migranti i izbjeglice.
Projekat će ojačati javne usluge za prikupljanje smeća kroz donaciju kamiona za odvoz smeća Gradu Bihać i Općini Cazin i obezbjeđivanje i montiranje malih kanti za smeće zajedno sa većim kontejnerima za sakupljanje smeća u centru Bihaća.
Sporazum je potpisao NJ.E. G. Matthew Field, ambasador Velike Britanije u Bosni i Hercegovini i G. Peter Van der Auweraert, šef misije IOM-a u Bosni i Hercegovini.
