Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), IOM aims to prevent irregular migration, stop the trafficking of human beings, contribute to national development, and assist the BH Government to manage migration activities.

Pioneer of Women’s Education and Esteemed Doctor in Mostar
Bohuslava Keckova, born in 1854 in Bohemia, became the state’s first female high school graduate and later its first Czech female doctor after studying in Zurich. In 1893, she moved to Mostar, quickly earning the community’s trust as a doctor. Keckova also engaged in scientific work and, by 1900, was teaching at the High School for Girls, significantly contributing to women’s education and health in Mostar.
Pionirka ženskog obrazovanja i cijenjena ljekarka u Mostaru
Bohuslava Keckova, rođena 1854. godine u Češkoj Republici, bila je prva koja je diplomirala na državnoj ženskoj srednjoj školi, a kasnije i prva žena doktorica nauka nakon studija u Cirihu. Godine 1893. dolazi u Mostar, i kao ljekar brzo zadobiva povjerenje zajednice. Keckova se bavila i naučnim radom, a do 1900. godine je podučavala u Srednjoj školi za djevojke, čime je značajno doprinijela obrazovanju i zdravlju žena u Mostaru.
