Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the International Organization for Migration (IOM BiH) and the Police of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Today, at the premises of the Police of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the International Organization for Migration (IOM BiH) and the Police of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place. The memorandum was created as a result of cooperation that has been going on since 2018 within the project "Moving Towards Sustainable Approaches for the Prevention of Violent Extremism in the Western Balkans" implemented by the International Organization for Migration and supported by the Government of the United Kingdom.
This cooperation includes work on strengthening institutional capacities and coordination in the prevention of violent extremism and creating a response to the migrant situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, taking into account the competencies of the Police of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We share a common approach with the Police of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the need for comprehensive, multisectoral action in the prevention of violent extremism. The memorandum also represents a formal recognition of the importance of previous activities as well as a commitment to further empowerment and cooperation of actors in the local community and continuous education and sensitization of police officers to work in this field.
