Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), IOM aims to prevent irregular migration, stop the trafficking of human beings, contribute to national development, and assist the BH Government to manage migration activities.

Press Statement: Security incident in the Temporary Reception Center Blažuj
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) wishes to confirm that yesterday night there was a security incident in the Temporary Reception Center Blažuj. This incident was triggered by a skirmish between two migrants that quickly escalated into a bigger fight.
IOM staff have been supported by the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Ministry of Security and the Police, including Special Forces and UNDSS who put the situation under control and helped to bring calm to the scene.
IOM staff are all safe and one has had a minor injury which is now under treatment.
IOM is working with all concerned to take measures to avoid these incidents in the future in cooperation with the national counterparts and thanks all parties for the excellent cooperation and support.
