Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), IOM aims to prevent irregular migration, stop the trafficking of human beings, contribute to national development, and assist the BH Government to manage migration activities.

Norwegian Embassy in Sarajevo support work of IOM in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Ambassador of Norwegian Embassy in Sarajevo, H.E. Guri Rusten, and the Chief of IOM Mission Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Peter Van der Auweraert, signed the agreement for the project “Strengthening Institutional Capacities for Referral Mechanisms for the Prevention of Violent Extremism” on 15 November 2017.
In close cooperation with the Ministry of Security of BiH, IOM will work closely with state, entity and local stakeholders to strengthen the institutional capacities, cooperation and referral mechanisms for the prevention of violent extremism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
