IOM Launches Emergency Psychosocial Support for Flood-displaced in Bosnia and Herzogovina
Bosnia and Herzogovina - IOM has mobilized eight psychologists, all of whom have extensive experience in dealing with vulnerable people, to provide psychosocial support for people displaced by the floods in Bosnia and Herzogovina.
These psychologists will operate in four teams of two. These teams will cover all areas affected by the floods and landslides, targeting 1,500 people in temporary accommodation facilities.
The USD 80,000 project will run for up to three months to provide the internally displaced with psychological first aid, prior to follow-up interviews and – when required – referral to the Centres for Mental Health.
The intervention will reinforce the very limited capacities of the Ministry of Defense/Armed Forces, as a significant proportion of the displaced persons are accommodated in Armed Forces barracks in Zenica and Tuzla.
