The British Embassy Sarajevo and International Organization for Migration (IOM) joint press statement on adoption of the Law on Protection of Victims of Wartime Torture in Republika Srpska
PRESS STATEMENT:
The British Embassy Sarajevo and International Organization for Migration (IOM) joint press statement on adoption of the Law on Protection of Victims of Wartime Torture in Republika Srpska
The British Embassy Sarajevo and IOM Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina welcome the adoption of the Law on Protection of Victims of Wartime Torture by the Republika Srpska National Assembly on 21 June 2018. The adoption of the Law represents an important step forward in providing long-awaited redress for victims of wartime torture. In accordance with the Law, victims of conflict-related sexual violence will now be able to apply for the status of victim of wartime torture, and access to a set of rights. These rights include financial compensation, health insurance and incentives for employment and self-employment. We hope that the Law will be approved by the RS Council of Peoples so that the benefits become available to victims as soon as possible. To ensure the equality of all victims in accessing and exercising these rights, it is important that the RS authorities ensure effective implementation of the Law, in line with international human rights standards and respect for the dignity of all victims.

IZJAVA ZA MEDIJE:
Zajednička izjava Britanske ambasade Sarajevo i Međunarodne organizacije za migracije (IOM) povodom usvajanja Zakona o zaštiti žrtava ratne torture u Republici Srpskoj
Britanska ambasada Sarajevo i IOM Misija u Bosni i Hercegovini pozdravljaju usvajanje Zakona o zaštiti žrtava ratne torture od strane Narodne skupštine Republike Srpske 21. juna 2018. godine.
