Under the overall guidance of the National Project Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant / Project Coordinator, the incumbent will support the implementation of project activities under IOM’s social cohesion and resilience portfolio.

 

Core Functions/Responsibilities

  • Assist with oversight and monitoring of project activities in coordination with the Senior Project Assistant / Project Coordinator and the Project Advisor;
  • In coordination with the Senior Project Assistant / Project Coordinator, assist with identification of strategic partnerships with potential / actual grantees at the local level to advance the activities in accordance with the project objectives;
  • Assist with the identification and development of grant ideas in close coordination with the Senior Project Assistant / Project Coordinator and the Project Advisor;
  • Provide weekly context updates on emerging issues in the municipality, especially in relation to social cohesion;
  • Report on grants progress to Project Advisor on a weekly basis;
  • Act as the main communication and coordination link between local stakeholders (local authorities, institutions, NGO’s, individuals, etc.) and the project office in Sarajevo;
  • Identify and report on any support and advice required from the project team in  Sarajevo office on all activity-related issues;
  • In coordination with the Project Advisor, coordinate and monitor the work of service providers, consultants and others contracted by IOM in the local area to ensure the efficient and timely completion of tasks;
  • Ensure guidelines are followed and best practices maintained during the implementation of all project activities;
  • Plan and engage in project monitoring and evaluation activities, including the identification of risks, issues and lessons learned;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in strict adherence to IOM policies and guidelines, including those related to confidentiality and data protection.

 

 Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Political or Social Science, Business Administration, International Relations, Law or related field with 1 year of experience or
  • Relevant High School education with 3 years of experience;

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 year of relevant experience, such as project development and implementation;
  • Excellent computer literacy in MS Office;
  • Holds a valid driving license;
  • Willingness and ability to conduct travel across the country.   

 

Skills:

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize work, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both English and local languages.
  • Knowledge of financial and procurement rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of SAP and IOM financial and procurement rules and regulations is a strong advantage.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows and MS Office applications (especially Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility, responsibility, integrity, teamwork, self-motivated.
  • Able to work with little supervision, focused, well organized, detail oriented.

 

Language(s): Fluent English and one of the three languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian)

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.

Vacancy is open to candidates residing in the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighboring country which is within commuting distance of the duty station.
